Not yet. But I'm working on it... I think there will be a 1.51 before 1.6

Thanks for the update.

Another thought occurred.. I've seen the folder icons used in Crystal Office's Maple Pro in other applications.. I think they might be freeware icons.. would it be possible to put them into Mars?

Also, from a design standpoint, what kind of contributions would be most useful to the application (if any) - I'm a designer and might be able to help out..

I'm going to upload 1.6 release candidate later today.

If you can give me a link for these icons - I'll check them.

What about contribution - I need a new program icon 16x16 - 256x256px.
Also there should be a default demo database...

Hello, I've done a little bit of bug testing...I will do more as I go but here are my initial ones.

Bugs
- If I edit a section in the treeview and then click away with the mouse it forgets the change. (I have to press enter first). This bug has been around since v1.5.
-Tree drag and drop isnt working for me. Not sure if that was supposed to in this release.
- Im not sure that lock program did anything. Not sure what thats supposed to do. (Actually I couldnt close the application with the X, Im guessing thats what it does)
- When exporting the base to RTF the occassional node/file is not exporting properly. I get a file with 0kb of type 'file'. There is definitly stuff in the node and I checked with the nonprinting characters and there isnt anything weird in there. (Also I checked and these nodes export correctly on the CHM version)

Feature request
- It would be nice to have the File->Export-> RTF export into one large RTF file instead of single ones. A Table of Contents at the top would be nice too :) But maybe im being greedy.
- The ability to insert Page Breaks for when we export to RTF. Would be really nice, but im probably being greedy again :)
- I like the back forward feature, thats groovy. It would be nice to have a full history instead of just one. Ie, so we -can go back back back multiple times etc. Just a thought anyway.

Things i dig
- Compiled HTML help file is great! :)

Other than that, great work man. I'll be back later with more results as I get to play with it some more.

Thank you
John

It's not a bug. This must be if you don't want to save changes.
John Sheppard wrote:-Tree drag and drop isnt working for me. Not sure if that was supposed to in this release.
Try to enable it in preferences  It works with Shift also...
John Sheppard wrote:- Im not sure that lock program did anything. Not sure what thats supposed to do. (Actually I couldnt close the application with the X, Im guessing thats what it does)
Your database must have a password set. When you press "Lock program" it will be minimized to the system tray and database will be closed. After if you want to restore it - you have to enter your password.

I need a test file which doesn't exports correctly.

Feature request... May be...sometime...

If its not a bug and its by design I think it should be changed. Thats just me tho. All other programs I use do not operate this way, Windows definitly doesnt. The amount of times I end up typing things in twice because of this :( I don't like it. I think it should save by default when it losses focus. But you are the boss, your choice.

Ahh ic...drag and drop now works! :)

Yes I do have a password!

My datafile is 200mb big so i cant upload it...I exported it to a smaller file...smaller file still does the problem...how do I get this file to you to look at?

New Bug....
When I goto right click a section. Save branch as. Then save it as type mars notebook file and try and overwrite an existing file I get an error. Access violation at address 0086296B in module notebook.exe read of address 00000000...oh ic...I accidently had that file open too. Not sure if this can really be classified a bug or not.

I'll send more bugs soon (well if i find them)

Thank you kindly
John

I will think about saving data when losing focus.

You can upload your "buggy" database to rapidshare.com (try to pack it first)

And about branch export error - I'm going to investigate it...Thank you.

I have not encountered any other bugs as yet.

I used to automatically backup my database file every day at the end of the day and it would zip up ok. Now I cannot though, it says that the file is open (I do have it open). This isnt really a bug I suppose.

Another thing I found (this happens in the old version too) was that when I shutdown the computer with marsnotepad still running it would crash out. I think it might be something to do with profile sharing on our work network. It doesnt bother me so I dont know if you'd want to look into this or not.

Other than those looks pretty good for me so far.

Thank you

One database file is locked when used by the program so no one else can get access to it even another copy of Mars Notebook. Multiuser version is in plans...

Damn. This happens in 1.6RC too? I thought I fixed it and tested on my PC and it worked.

Actually I could be telling a lie about the Shutdown Bug (the last one stated above), I will check it again and let you know. I may have got it confused with V1.6

Multiuser will be groovy :) That'll be fun when you get that up and happening. One thing at a time tho :)

Thank you!

The shutdown bug is fixed in 1.6RC. Sorry about that. I tested it again and it worked today. Thank you.

Another feature that would be really cool is hotkeys for the styles. I.e. Alt-1 sets text to style one, Alt-2 sets text to style 2, etc. You'd save one mans RSI :) if you implemented that and id be very appreciative if you could.....but I understand it all takes time...

    Thank you
It's a really good product, you do good job...

Hotkeys for the styles are already here since 1.5
    Try Ctrl+0..9

Ahh ic :) Thats good! Thank you. I should have read the docs better :)

Just found one more really small bug...
When you set the background colour and press control Z to undo it...it doesnt work...it undos the last typing...

Very small bug, it doubt anyone would care...but...thought id report it...

    Thank you!

Really, it's not a bug. I know about it. Undo doesn't covers document background. For now... ;-)
